Traditional cold stamping involves the forming and shaping of a flat sheet of metal at room temperature inside forming dies inside a stamping press. Toyotetsu operates a number cold stamping presses of differing types (tandem, progressive, in-press transfer) with presses ranging from 250 tons up to 3,000 tons. In order to produce the complex shapes required by automakers, cold stamping parts must be stamped in several successive steps, and require different press types.
Toyotetsu is able to stamp high strength materials. This type of stamping is an important part of today’s overall weight reduction strategies for the car body structure, and have a significant impact, especially in the vehicle body where thinner material thicknesses and higher strengths are required.
